Check VAT Number

Verifying a customer’s VAT Number is an important step for many businesses working with companies across Europe. Besides confirming that the VAT Number is valid, it is often necessary to keep a record of the validation for future reference.

SquidWeb simplifies this process by allowing users to validate VAT Numbers directly from a Contact. Once the validation is complete, the system automatically records the result and stores the confirmation document inside the Contact, eliminating the need to manage the process manually.

Verify a VAT Number

VAT validation can be started directly from the Contact profile.

Simply open the Contact and select Check VAT Number.

SquidWeb submits the VAT Number for validation through the VAT Information Exchange System (VIES) and returns the result within a few seconds.

If the VAT Number is valid, the Contact can continue through the normal business workflow. If the VAT Number is invalid, the result is also recorded so that the information can be reviewed.

Automatic documentation

Checking the VAT Number is only one part of the process.

After every validation, SquidWeb automatically creates a record of the verification.

The validation result is added to the Activities section, allowing users to see when the VAT Number was checked and whether it was valid or invalid.

At the same time, the official VIES confirmation document is automatically saved under Contact Documents.

This means there is no need to manually download, rename or archive the confirmation PDF.

Keep contact information organised

By storing VAT validation together with the Contact, all relevant information remains in one place.

Users can review previous validations at any time, access the official VIES confirmation document and maintain a complete history without leaving SquidWeb.
